Leek & Potato Soup

Paired with Gretchen Chenin Blanc 2023

Serves: 4-6
Prep Time: 15 Minutes
Cook Time: 30 Minutes

Ingredients:

  • 3 large leeks, white and light green parts only, sliced
  • 3 Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 4 cups chicken or vegetable stock
  • ½ cup heavy cream

Method:

  1. Melt butter over medium heat; gently sauté leeks until soft, not browned.
  2. Add potatoes and stock; bring to a simmer.
  3. Cook until potatoes are tender (about 20 minutes).
  4. Blend until smooth; stir in cream.
  5. Season lightly with salt and white pepper.

Garnish:

  • Crispy fried leeks
  • Chive crème fraîche
  • Drizzle of olive oil

The soup’s silky texture is refreshed by the Chenin Blanc’s acidity and orchard-fruit profile, creating an elegant, balanced pairing.
