Our Story
House of Henkel is a women-owned, family-operated wine brand founded by Moira Henkel, rooted in South African heritage and built on generations of family legacy, entrepreneurship, and global trade experience.
Founded by immigrant entrepreneur Moira Henkel, House of Henkel bridges South Africa and the United States, bringing boutique, small-batch South African wines to the American market with integrity and purpose. Raised in Cape Town, Moira learned the foundations of business from her father, a small business owner who built and operated his own cartage and trucking company—instilling values of discipline, accountability, and long-term vision.
In 2002, Moira founded Fumana International, which later became a trailblazer as one of the first women-owned companies focused exclusively on importing boutique South African wines into the U.S. By championing family-owned vineyards and artisanal producers, Fumana International helped elevate South African wine on the global stage.
In 2022 Moira and her daughter Gretchen Henkel launched House of Henkel Wines, a natural evolution of that pioneering vision. Today, the brand operates from Atlanta, Georgia, distributing nationwide and offering direct-to-consumer sales across the United States.
House of Henkel partners only with vineyards committed to ethical labor practices, sustainability, and quality winemaking, ensuring each bottle reflects the terroir, culture, and craftsmanship of South Africa.
At House of Henkel, wine is more than a beverage—it is a story of place, people, and legacy.
