Poached Pear

Ingredients:

  • 4 firm pears (Bosc or Anjou)
  • 2 cups House of Henkel Signature Sweet Moela
  • 1 cup water
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 2 star anise
  • 1 vanilla bean (or 1 tsp vanilla extract)
  • Zest of 1 orange

Instructions

  1. Peel the pears, leaving the stems intact for a refined presentation.
  2. In a saucepan, combine the wine, water, sugar, cinnamon, star anise, vanilla, and orange zest. Bring to a gentle simmer.
  3. Add the pears and simmer for 25–30 minutes, occasionally rotating them, until they are tender and infused with flavor.
  4. Remove the pears and reduce the poaching liquid over medium heat until it thickens into a syrup.
